Chocolate Concrete

Ingredients

  • 225g Self Raising Flour
  • 175g Caster Sugar
  • 175g Melted Unsalted Butter
  • 50g Cocoa Powder

Pinkish Custard

  • 2 tbsp. Cornflour
  • 1 tbsp. Sugar
  • 450ml Milk
  • a few drops of Strawberry Flavouring
  • a few drops of pink food colouring

Method

Heat Oven to Gas Mark 4

Combine flour, sugar and cocoa in a bowl, melt the butter and add to the bowl. mix together until it forms fine breadcrumb texture.

place the mixture in a flat tin and pat it down so that it all sticks together. brush with water and sprinkle with extra sugar.

Cook for about 30 minutes.

Take out the oven and leave to cool slightly. Cut into slices whilst still warm.

To make the custard simply heat the milk until just before it boils. Put cornflour in a sauce pan with the sugar, colouring and strawberry flavouring. slowly pour over the milk whisking all the time to make sure it doesn’t go lumpy. If the custard is a bit thick just add a bit more milk. Oh and you may notice my custard is more of a violet colour. I didn’t have any pink colouring. You can make it whatever colour you want.

Me personally the best way to eat this is all mashed up with the custard. If this doesn’t transport you back in time I don’t know what will.

from start to finish in less that 30 minutes.
